TORREVIEJA´S faulty system of police security cameras has at last been repaired, some nine years after the network was installed.
The network, monitored by the local police, is used for car number plate recognition and controlling traffic flows, as well as providing footage for prosecutions by the local courts and Guardia Civil.
Many of the cameras though failed to work or broke down soon after they went into action, leading to a stream of complaints from the local police.
A more stable system has now gone online to address the various issues that have been flagged up.
